AWEA's Report Due Out in Early-March

The Wisconsin Public Utility Institute and the UW Energy Institute are hosting a wind energy event on February 27. This event will provide a pre-release review of the much anticipated American Wind Energy Associations forthcoming national assessment, "20% Wind Energy by 2030". In addition to the economic and technical forecast for wind, permitting, siting, transmission, and supply chain issues, both materials and labor, necessary to achieve this vision will be covered.
A boxed lunch will be available.

Michael Vickerman is Executive Director of RENEW Wisconsin, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to facilitate the sustained, orderly development of Wisconsin's renewable power sources to serve its citizens. Under Mr. Vickerman's direction, RENEW has advocated, and mobilized political support for, several major pro-renewable policies, including a statewide 10% renewable requirement by 2015, a state of Wisconsin renewable energy purchasing initiative, the establishment of a public benefits fund dedicated to renewable energy sources, and utility tariffs designed to encourage customer generation of renewable energy.

Jeff Anthony joined the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) in March 2007. As AWEA's Manager of Utility Programs and Policy, he is responsible for supporting utilities in their efforts to integrate and adopt wind power as a mainstream generation technology. He works with individual utilities across the U.S. as they expand their use of wind power, to aid them in their understanding of wind's benefits, and to help them address integration and other implementation issues. Jeff also provides support to other policy development areas in AWEA. Prior to joining AWEA, Jeff worked at We Energies (Wisconsin Electric) for 19 years, most recently as the Manager of Renewable Energy Strategy. In that capacity, he was responsible for growing and accelerating the utility's efforts in the renewable energy area and launched a number of new wind, solar, and biomass initiatives that led to recognition as one of the leading utilities in the country in terms of renewable energy adoption and advancement. Mr. Anthony graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering and received an Executive MBA from Northwestern University.

Sarah White is a Senior Associate at the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS), a national policy center for high-road economic development. Her work at COWS focuses on sustainable workforce strategies, both local and national, including green career pathways in the new energy economy. White came to COWS from Wisconsin's Department of Workforce Development, where she served as the Secretary's policy and budget analyst for federal employment and training programs. A labor historian by training, White holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and a B.A. from Wellesley College.

Beth Soholt is the Director of Wind on the Wires (WOW). Launched in 2001, WOW works to overcome the barriers to delivering wind power to market in 9 Upper Midwest states that stretch from the Dakotas to Indiana. WOW is a key regional partner of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the groups work closely together to advance wind power development and transmission issues in the Midwest. At WOW she directs work in the areas of utility transmission planning, state regulatory proceedings, legislative education and outreach. Ms. Soholt holds a seat on the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) Advisory Committee representing the Environmental Sector.

Dale Osborn is the Transmission Technical Director for the Midwest ISO Transmission Asset Management department.
Current work entails wind integration and long range transmission plan development.
Transmission planning in the Midwest ISO includes economic top down planning that relates strongly to wind and bottom up process such as interconnection and reliability expansion.
He has experience in generation expansion planning, transmission planning, Static Var Compensator application and HVDC applications and is the vice chair of the IEEE Wind Power Coordinating Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Utility Wind Integration Group for the RTO segment, as well as a licensed professional engineer in the state of Nebraska. He holds a BSEE and MSEE from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, NE.

Craig Mataczynski has a track record of success in startup and Fortune 500 environments. Blending technical know how with business acumen, he has consistently grown the bottom line by increasing revenues, implementing operating efficiencies and utilizing innovative financing strategies. He has a proven history as an effective communicator, developing strategic partnerships for profitable joint ventures and communicating the company's vision and strategies to the investment community. He is adept at and building and developing strong professional teams.
Mr. Mataczynski was directly responsible for the development and implementation of a strategic plan that was used to grow an energy company ten-fold over a 7 year period; and played a key role in a successful IPO of that company. Additionally, he has been involved in running a Power Marketing entity that contributed $40 million to the bottom line by expanding the Company's revenue base and through improved asset utilization and the dramatic turn around of a bankrupt competitor.
Most recently, Mr. Mataczynski has led Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc to more than double the Company's net income since his arrival in 2005.
